921 Retail Clinics at Year End
We've just completed a review of retail clinics in the
United States at year end. Below are the final numbers
by operator. MinuteClinic and TakeCare continue their
rapid expansion. The Little Clinic and RediClinic added
no new clinics since our last update on December 12.
Welcome to Carolinas Medical Center as the newest
clinic has opened inside a Harris Teeter grocery store
in Charlotte, representing yet another local hospital
system deciding to compete with a major national
operator, in this case MinuteClinic.
MedBasics opened three clinics in Little Rock, the first
operator in that city and the first expansion outside of
Dallas for MedBasics. Also, QuickHealth, an operator
with clinics in Sacramento, Fresno and the Bay Area,
has openend its first clinic in Los Angeles.

My congratulations on both this blog and MerchantMedicine´s site. As for the blog, which is as far as I know the only one focused on retail clinics, I would love to see more frequent posts, which might enhance participation.
The information you provide on the number of RC is indeed valuable. However, in order to monitor the market, two significant metrics are missing: patient visits and net collections per visit (either the "price" for purely private patients or the payment received from insurers). Do you have any information on these parameters that you could share? I haven´t seen any study on the industry which includes these metrics. For instance, what is the typical payment per visit from insurers and how does it compare with payment per visit to an ER, a PCP office, etc.
Thank you
